Within project “TomaTool” we investigate the feasibility of developing a management application tool for the tomato horticulture sector. It aims to form an image of factors that affect production results.
Despite years of experience and research, there is a variation of 20% between the actual production and the estimated one. This is certainly not only related to the breed and quality of the young plant. Weather factors such as (growth) light, temperature, relative humidity, CO2 are important for plant growth as well as the soil condition factors such as moisture, temperature and EC content. Water, fertilizers, diseases and the influence of the moon also play a role, the last of which being a big unknown.
We are investigating how to increase the production level and its predictability using different Machine learning models.
